THE HANK STANLEY BOXING AWARDS in the name of Reg Undy.

Today 16th December 2007 Young Victor was awarded with a trophy that had the  meaning unknown to him.

THE HANK STANLEY VICTORIAN BOXING AWARDS 2007 was resurrected by Keith Ellis with the help of Damian Membrey to keep alive a very old tradition as Hank has been ill of late.

Damian Membrey kindly placed the trophy in his father's hands to do the presentation.

This was a thoughtful gesture by a loving son to his famous father knowing very well of the friendly relations his dad has with me.
I have not felt as close to boxing and people in it as what I did at this presentation in 44 years.
As you will see when the video is up and running on my site YVB, shear proof of how nice a man can be to another is evident in this footage.
I have had some people like me before but Bryan Membrey is something special.
Damian is very fortunate of having a father with so much knowledge in boxing and its connections.
Bryan is writing a book which portrays this wide web of great people he has known which to us are legends and celebrities.
A special thank you Bryan, not for the trophy as the panel did that but for you being such a nice man's man.

Reg Undy

Reg Undy was a "Ringside Personality" that was larger than life, a promoter, a punter, a bookmaker and a very generous bloke.
He is remembered walking around ringside calling odds and taking bets...

That type of activity doesn't happen now or not as overtly.
He features quite a bit in Lester's book ?????. He promoted a couple of Lester's fights and reportedly lost a lot on the Ellis v Michael fight!!!

Lester says in his book that as a 17 year old amateur he asked Reg for sponsorship and "Ringside Reg" helped out with some boots and cash...from then on Lester and Reg were inseparable.
