AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL BOXING HALL OF
FAME GOING INTERSTATE
Rumours are alive that the ANBHOF Induction
gala dinner is going to be held in Tasmania in 2011.
YVB have heard this a couple of weeks ago but
didn't write about it and neither were we brave enough to ask the
officials as it just didn't seem right.
After some talks with a committee member it was
explained that the ANBHOF is a national body and that sharing the
placing of inductions will obviously benefit our family of Boxing
Greats which is
spread all over Australia. YVB absolutely agree with this, our
champions come from all over our great country.
The reason for the possibility of Tasmania
being first off the rank is because Country Club Casino has been an
ongoing sponsor for some time and have been a key in the financial
survival of the ANBHOF in 2010.
More will be published about this as YVB are
one of the major media supporters of the ANBHOF.
Fightnight at Malvern
8 rounds Heath Ellis Win UD points Benny Horra
Heath Ellis found his target against a stale Benny
Horra seemingly with ease and used his stylish boxing which
consisted of a widely thrown lefts followed by a better aimed right.
This went on for the whole fight other then when Horra started using
some aggression in the latter rounds which did not trouble Ellis.
8 rounds Tim Hunt Win UD Aswin Cabuy
Tim Hunt used his supreme boxing skill to perfection
giving Aswin Cabuy little chance to ever look good during the whole
fight and won easily on points.
Although Cabuy never lacked any courage to make the
fight go his way he was completely outclassed and needs to fight
boxers in his level of skill.
6 rounds Callan Orchard Win tko 4th Dane Campbell
A star in the making only allowed an experienced Dane
Campbell to be a threat for the first 2 rounds of this fight where a
few dangerous punches seemed to penetrate which exposed the lack of
substantial experience in Orchard.
However from the 3rd round onwards Callan started
opening his meanest attacks which earned him a stoppage win in the
4th stanza.
Orchard needs to concentrate on keeping his head
lower while fighting as agreed by his trainer John McCubbin.
6 rounds Jimmy James Win points UD Abner Llanasa
From the red corner Jimmy fought the same way as always
and put up a good
performance while Abner was far from accurate with his efforts to
upset his opponent and was outclassed. Jimmy needs to concentrate on a more telling
punch which will make his opponents pay more respect.
He won the fight easily on points.
4 rounds Terry Tzouramanis Draw SD Matthew Lytwynenko
Terry a walk-up fighter came out with a lot of vigor
but his punches were mainly swings and did not land as often as
intended.
However these guys put a good action packed fight and a
draw was a fitting result.
4 rounds Marc Pante Win tko 4th Dale Burton
Both fighters are big boys and began the first round
with good boxing and seemed evenly matched for the first two rounds.
As from the 3rd round Pante started to get on top and
the points were going his way, by the fourth round Pante had too
much left in his tank and the ref Matt Ropis put an end to the fight
for a win to Marc Pante.
Pante needs to get the chubby look in order and shed
some kilos if he intends to continue in this fight game, he is
unbeaten in his only 2 fights will be meeting stiffer opposition
after this.

4x2 rounds Ashley Caminiti Win points Steven King
This was a good fight and both fighters produced
plenty of action.
Ashley Caminiti proved a little too strong for Steven
King.
In the later rounds Caminiti applied more pressure
which earned him a point's decision.
Green triumphs, but BJ takes him all the way

4/11/2010 by Young Victor
After the sanctioning of the fight by the WA
Professional Combat Sports Commission and their Doctor's approval
of Danny Green's IBO cruiserweight title defense fight against Paul
Briggs they are now fining Paul $75000.00 .
Paul Briggs, one of Australia's best ever
fighters on the World scene is about to have taken off him money
which will repay him for his efforts to our game.
There is no proof of Paul Briggs throwing the
fight and YVB have explained in the past how matters more than
likely unfolded during the event.
This is a major unforeseen blotch by the board as they
were obviously in favour of the event taking place obviously not
knowing Paul's condition.

Boxer Hatton's fight licence withdrawn
LONDON (AFP) - Former world champion Ricky Hatton suffered a further
blow to his reputation as a result of having taken cocaine when his
licence to box was withdrawn on Thursday.
The 31-year-old, who faces the prospect of a police investigation,
was condemned by the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) for
"bringing the sport into disrepute", who ruled his "current physical
condition is such that the Board decided to withdraw his boxer's
licence".
Hatton was diagnosed with depression and a drink problem by a
specialist earlier this month after a newspaper published video
footage of the boxer allegedly snorting cocaine.

Sam Soliman vs Pradeep Singh
Soliman win by Ko 10th rnd.
Pradeep Singh would have fared better if this
fight was some Jujitsu contest as he had San Soliman down 3 times
under those rules but no this is boxing.
Despite Singh being substantially taller man
with better reach he was too far away when striking any leading
punches so his advantage was left unused.
By the mid rounds Soliman took control of the
fight and it was just a matter of time until a good body punch in
the 10th round put Pradeep down for the full count.
Sam Soliman's condition was as good as always
and won comfortably.

Mundine stops Waters in tenth
A flurry of
punches saw the referee give Waters a standing eight count moments
before the end of the ninth round. At the beginning of the tenth,
Mundine continued his assault with another combination of blows
sending Waters to the canvas with the fight shortly waved off
moments later.
After the bout, Mundine looked clearly satisfied at recording the
stoppage which was his first knockout since his fourth round
stoppage of Jose Alberto Clavero in December 2007 (nine fights ago)
and his first stoppage at a weight below super middleweight.

CASEY UPSETS BELL No3 WBA ranker and is the new PABA
Light Heavyweight Champion

An epic thriller fight at the Reggio Calabria Club was
one to be remembered for years to come.
Tim came out fighting at top gear
obviously to show Casey what he was in for, however Casey countered
well and himself displayed it was not going to be an easy night for
anyone in that ring.
Both fighters looked in top condition
despite Bell having not fought for 6 months.
Joel Casey fought back all the way
through 12 rounds to even get a points split decision having suffered a
cut eye in the fourth round.
Bell a very popular Melbourne local from
Yarraville kept up his siege on Casey throughout the fight but Casey
so determined to win this fight kept his efforts up and had Tim in
some trouble with body punching, Casey was not following up with.
The 11th round saw Casey down and
looking like he was in some serious trouble, he got up early and
stood for the rest of the count of 8.
He was unsteady but the round ended
before Bell could make a good effort to put an end to the fight.
The 12th round made all fans stand as
the most thrilling fight came to an end.

SHAM or no SHAM
5/8/2010 by Young Victor
Only Paul Briggs can confirm if this fight was a
sham and only proof of no brain damage being present in Paul prior
to the fight would leave only doubt anyway.
The fact that Danny a fighter that always keeps
pouring punches on most opponents while in a journey to the canvas
well indicates that he could sense a serious problem may have been
at hand.
YVB are amazed why everyone is so surprised that the
fight ended so early when there is sufficient knowledge by boxing
experts the above is so possible and probably truthful.

PAUL BRIGGS VS DANNY GREEN
Was it a fix?
23/7/2010 by Young Victor
Young Victor's explanation of this fight was already
pointed out prior to this time seen here below but he may add:
Great Possibilty
That something went wrong in Paul Brigg's head by,
even, the slightest bump and have caused an eye problem that may
have triggered a sign (known to have previously occurred) only he
can explain, this may have indicated to him that he should stop
fighting.
After all life is more important.
Would people have preferred to see an outcome that
may have ended in Paul being disabled or dead?
Boxing will not suffer through all the suddenly out
of closet writers coming out of everywhere without any significant
experience in the great game of boxing, now seemingly experienced in
professional boxing all crying over fans being cheated, robbed and
suggesting a fix....
It was obvious from earlier footage that Paul in
training was slow and not in good fighting shape.

Green/Briggs fight a farce
21/7/2010 by Young Victor
The first punch was a straight left to the
body with the second a left jab by
Green which appeared to just lightly graze the top of Briggs head at best,
causing Briggs to head downwards with hands in defense while
cruising slowly to the canvas. The referee kept counting expecting
Briggs to make a better effort to get up which didn't happen.
Briggs looked in bad condition for a fight
of that level.
Green apologized to the audience while a
lot of booing was taking place.
Some publications indicated that Paul
Briggs's purse was $200,000.00, it seemed very easily earned.
A lot more information will be published
which will throw some explanation on the saga, Australian boxing

Danny Green vs Paul Briggs
on Main Event Wednesday
21st July 2010 17/7/2010 by Young Victor
Paul Briggs after a layoff of 3
years will fight IBO World Cruiserweight Champion over 12 rounds for
his title.
Green is a hot favourite but
Briggs is planning on finishing the fight inside the distance. In
theory Green will be in much better condition as he has been in
fighting shape since he demolished legend Roy Jones Junior and later
Manny Siaca in April 2010. Green has not fought over 5 rounds since
2007.
YVB think Green will be too fast, agile and
destructively hungry but Briggs being a big puncher is always with a
good chance.

Memorable
WBF Asia Pacific
Cruiserweight title
fight at Malvern Town
Hall
25th.
June 2010:

Courageous orthodox
fighter Kane McKay
(right) dug
deep with no avail to find a way to
stop promising up and
comer Blake Caparello (left).
For 8
gruesome rounds he
attempted to turn the
fight his way with
Caparello a southpaw taunting his
opponent in close
quarters allowing McKay
to shower him with
punches which some were
connecting and most were
not. However this suited
Caparello as at payback
time he punished McKay
with severe rights and
lefts.
The fight
was a huge crowed
pleaser throughout Kane
being an expert at
creating such events.
YVB
expect Caparello to rise
up to national standard
very quickly as he
possesses lots of
natural ability that may
even take him a long way
beyond.
"History in the making"
Towards
the end of round 8 with
both fighters wearing
injuries from this
gruesome fight and Kane
against the ropes in an
upright stance seemingly
out on his feet,
suddenly, dropped his
hands down to his waist
and challenged Blake to
hit him again which in
turn did take place and
in turn suffered more
blows to the head.
Immediately the referee
Malcolm Bulner stopped
proceedings to award a
Tko win to the new WBF
Cruiserweight champion.
When
asked by YVB in the
change rooms why he
ended the fight in that
manner he responded he
had no memory of the
instance.
It seems
that the towel thrown in
at the right moment or
an earlier stoppage by
Bulner may have saved
the last two destructive
punches that preceded
the stoppage.
There
always is a good time
for retirement from the
game of boxing and
Kane's time, a family
man and a father of two
children can wisely
choose this epic
occasion to exit
proudly.

John McCubbin's
Callan Orchard to
impress
Capable
Dane Campbell the larger
built than his opponent
Callan Orchard seemed to
be in control of his
fight until about mid
rounds when Callan
decided to retaliate and
countered well
which turned the
direction of the fight
very quickly.
this showed his ability
to changing his fight
plan which resulted in a
huge win earning a
standing ovation by all
fans in attendance,
unfortunately a photo of
Dane was not acquired as
it takes two to make a
fight and deserves
praise for his efforts. John McCubbin a
former Australian Light Heavyweight champion

Les was
brought up by his

Snowy's gym whom
stood around the

him through a few moves

Despite
living and kicking

YV had selected friends

North boys whom were
very fond of him through
the boxing days.
Brian was
the one really more
involved in boxing and

YV

a hundred or so boys
would belt into each
other until heavily
marked, black eyes and
bleeding) where the next
day they would show up
in the streets of North Melbourne
best of friends.

Clint from

(39:37 Monitto)
Monitto has
a huge heart but doesn't care about
defense and at 30 years of age with a
family to look after would best serve
himself to retire from boxing as the
game can become dangerous when
approached in his manner.

Winner: T Hunt TKO 3:00 R5 (Jean
Claude retired in corner)
Referee: Ignatius Missailidis
Judges: Chris Anderson : Peter Flaherty
: Brian Butler
Tim Hunt in
early rounds had his usual brilliant
composure spoilt by the one tunneled
style of Jean Claude.
Claude swings like a windmill and it
didn't take Hunt long to define his
choice of fighting to completely
outclass his opponent and land all
punches at will.
During the
contest Claude's
both eyes were cut and it was decided by
his corner to retire from the fight.

Winner: B Caparello unanimous
points
Referee: Chris Anderson
Judges: Andrew Campbell (77:75): Peter
Flaherty (77:75) : Brian Butler (79:76)
Blake
Caparello started the first round with
very accurate and speedy straight lefts
followed by as accurate landed straight
rights which served him well for the
first 3 rounds but was out boxed at
close quarters.
Joel Casey a
handy experienced fighter found his
ground starting from the 4th round and
got on the mark as Caparello's condition
seemed to fade a little.
Casey fought
well and used very impressively targeted
uppercuts for the following rounds but
didn't do quite enough to take the
points win from Caparello.

A
sensational KO ended a sure win for our
Victorian star Heath Ellis the nephew of
Australian Boxing legend former World
champion Lester Ellis.
The fans at
the Malvern Town Hall stood paralyzed as
a perfectly landed left hook was aimed
and landed on its target in perfect
style due to the preceding landed lefts
and rights which had Ellis in trouble
with little time for his corner to take
any action.
Ellis laid
on the canvas surrounded by his seconds

a stretcher in waiting but not used as
to everyone's relief Heath stood up.

Frank Bianco returns to
gym!
22nd Jan. 2009
Last week Frank Bianco
returned to his gym he has run since 1971
looking in good shape after his bad
acquaintance with cancer.
Although he is still being
treated with chemo he is full of life and
looking ahead with confidence. Frank has
been running his gym at Lower Templestowe
for the last 16 years with one of the last boxers
he trained being Luke Moloney, he was recently seen in
"the contender series"
Frank started boxing at 11
years of age at the Collingwood youth club
with Leo Cole, he won the Golden Gloves
award twice 1977 and 78. After turning pro he
fought Billy O'Conner and beat Alan Presnell
he told YVB he sparred Les Dunn many times
Les being a former opponent of the writer.
His gym mates then being Bobby
Dunn, Wayne Bannister, Lionel Rose, Leo
Young and Johnny Famechon, even Tony Mundine and many
more.
According to Young Victor,
Frank is a softy trainer and he admits that
he does not push his kids which is good
practice, he said that unless his boys are
absolutely ready he does not let them fight
anybody.
YVB hope that Frank keeps on
the improve as he has a lot of young men
that love the way he runs his gym.
Frank has a good man in
Scotty seen below that helps him keep the
gym open and Scotty has been doing a great
job while Frank was in hospital in keeping the
gym running. Dedicated to Frank's gym,
Scotty catches the bus from Preston and
walks if he doesn't have his bus fare money.

Hopkins / Danny Green
17th Jan 2009
Bernard knows this is not
the same Danny that spent so much time
around world rated fighters waiting for his
big chance and having to return to Australia
There can only be one reason for all the
excuses made by Bernard Hopkins in making
sure this fight does not take place and that
is that he is scared of facing Green after
seeing the massive destruction of his
American partner in the legend department.

Sam Soliman vs Shannon
McMahon for WBF title
13th Jan 2009:
Sam Soliman is to fight Shannon McMahon
at Moonee Valley Racecourse 13th March.
What seems a lopsided match,
the fight is taking place and places McMahon
in what surely looks to be a difficult
task to undertake according to YVB.
Shannon is a good boxer but
handling Sam may be hard.
Sam a master at spoiling
anyone's style, this proven by beating
Enrique Ornelas
in 2006 who just went the distance with
legend Bernard Hopkins in December 09 with
Sam
still, not getting a chance at a world title.
Common knowledge was that fighting Sam
was difficult so he
was never given the chance he deserved for a
world title fight.
Sam fought and lost to
Ronald Wright (Winky) a disputed
decision having deserved better result.
Sam Soliman is now on the edge of
his career but full of cagey experience with
fitness being one of his favorite
conditions.
A win for Shannon would be a great
achievement, it would place him in a good
position for bigger fights. Shannon is a
great person and deserves this chance.
