Induction night with Gala Dinner
Saturday 10 Oct 2009
The Australian National Boxing Hall of
Fame annual dinner took place in Melbourne's top AFL football
ground's function room where Australian Champions were
honoured and more inducted into what is now Australia's listed
fighters for all time to come.
A huge amount of known faces from the
last 60 years of boxing in Australia were present which made
it a memorable evening for all.
Night of nights of Aussie
Boxing was the best place to be on this Saturday
10th. Oct.
The main attractions were the loved former
Commonwealth champion Henry Nissen and Troy
Waters winner of
the WBB title and having fought for the WBC
AND IBF World Light Middleweight title.
HENRY THE GENTLE MAN
Henry was a TV Ringside idol back in the golden
years of Boxing in Melbourne town.
Henry Nissen is one deserving fighter that gave
Melbourne boxing fans so much during his career
and is still doing what he does best which is
charity work for homeless and other people
needing help with life.
Henry is one of the nicest guys on the planet, a
thorough champion in much more than can ever be
expected of him.
TROY WATERS A DESERVING
CHAMPION
Troy fought Felix Trinidad a Hall of Famer who
went on in turn to fight Oscar De La Hoya, Roy
Jones Jnr, Bernard Hopkins and Ronald Wright.
His birthplace was in London, England but began
his fighting career in NSW Australia before his
Madison Square Gardens and MGM showings.

***VIDEO NOW ADDED***
YVB
is now
showing a video of this glorious evening on this website now
that it has been edited and produced.
This was without a doubt the best of all
gala dinners to date and was held in the heart of Melbourne's
main sports stadium "Melbourne Cricket Ground" also known as the
MCG where the grand final of the AFL took place.
The
President Gus Mercurio, Brett Mc'Cormick and Frank Marr
the Vice President and secretary (in that order) were the main
organizers of this unforgettable evening.
Australia's cream of Boxing's legends gathered all in one place
and were happy to sign autographs for everyone that requested.
by Young Victor
The video is not professionally
made and really a memorable night for the writer but it is
worthwhile seeing as some great fighters had been present.
**Video taken out temporarily**
